Jun. 28th, 2023 01:00 pmI am off today so what better time than to now to go the car inspected. It's not due until 7/31 but what the hell....I don't have anything better to do.
I roll over to Murray's Tire Service and get there at 8, just as they are opening for the day. I tell Candace, who has worked there forever, I need an inspection and oh yeah....y'all did full A/C treatment last year but it does not seem to working very well. Check it out and let me know what is going on. A technician comes in to ask me a ton of questions about the A/C. About minutes 30 later he returns to the waiting room. "I recharged your freon. Added some dye. Come back in a few days and we can see if there are any leaks." Huh? I asked you LOOK at it and let me know if there are issues. I did not tell you to fix anything. Goddammit. Between freon and labor I am out $120. My day is off to a great start. They pull the car in to be inspected and it fails. I assume it's the missing light cover on the back. Nope. The tire. Wait....not THE tire. The THREE tires that need to be replaced. JFC. Swell. There is no way around it. Replace them or I fail. Put new (used) tires on. It takes 30 minutes to get into the garage and get them on....then 20 more to get the reinspection. I got there at 8.....at 11:20 Candace tells me I am good. "Not how I was expecting my morning to go. Am I getting out of here for less than $300?" She laughs & assures me I am. She shows the new girl how print up all the bullshit paperwork. "What's the damage" I ask with fear in my voice. "Your total today is $298.52". I roll my eyes at Candace. "Well, it IS under $300."
