I work with identical twins at Da Park. People have trouble telling them apart, but not me. They have every distinct personalities (Also, D1 wears Nikes while D2 is an Adidas girl. This knowledge makes identification incredibly easier). Beautiful (inside and out) black girls who carry themselves better than a lot of adults I have met. I am their foil, a role I happily accept. They constantly give me shit about my age, my past etc. But they also have told me that I am "the coolest old white guy" they've ever met. I love them and I know they love me. Yesterday they celebrated their 19th birthdays. I went to the store and bought cards for them.

I bought 2 copies of the same card. I wrote each of their names on the envelope. On the inside I wrote the date, "Happy birthday, D!" and signed my name. I tried to write identically on both cards. In the same spot on the card, with identical flair. They happily ripped open the envelope and thanked me. They handed each other their respective cards to compare. D1 noted they were identical. "Just like you guys!" I said goofily. They both groaned and at the same time said "You stupid." "Ha! See? Just like that!"

Later in the day I ran into Alex R. He told me how funny that was and that he wished he had thought of that. Yes! Validation!!!
