Man, these gas prices are getting silly. I dropped Erica off Monday and drove past a certain petroleum refillment center. Unleaded gasoline was $3.79 a gallon. I drove by yesterday and the same gallon was now $4.09. On the way back from A-Dam‘s this morn I stopped to put some petrol in my tank. It was now currently $4.30 a gallon. To the best of my mathematical skills that’s a price hike of exactly of "way too fucking much". I would’ve never stopped at this particular station for gas but I recently got a credit card that gives me $.30 off per gallon on my first five purchases. I was stoked because at the time I was approved for the card gas was $2.79 a gallon and saving $.30 would be helpful. Saving $.30 when it’s $4.30 a gallon doesn’t feel like much of a savings. It’s like a bully punching you in the dick six times (providing you have a dick). At the end he says he could’ve made it seven but his arms got tired. Doesn't make things much better. 1 punch in the dick is certainly enough.

I am sick to death from hearing a certain group of people being so goddamn wrong about why this is happening. I think you know who I am talking about. (REPUBLICANS!! TRUMPERS!! RED STATES!! UNDNEDUCATED HILLBILLYS!! PEOPLE WHO WATCH TUCKER CARLSON!! I guess that's the same as uneducated hillbilly's, right?)

So let’s be clear about a couple things. The high prices are not Joe Biden‘s fault. Just as the low prices were not due to some keen marketing by the former rat faced bastard. He was able get the prices down because his ineptitude caused us to be quarantined and not go anywhere for months. Oh, and letting 500,000 Americans die in the process. Less people on the road. Oil is a commodity traded on an open and free market. There is no shortage of oil. Prices are rising because of speculation, uncertainty and price gouging. Don’t hand me that shit about the Keystone Pipeline project either. The projects incompletion does not affect the cost of gasoline in this country. The pipeline was never to bring gas to the American market. It was for shipping oil from Canada which could be refined cheaply and sent to other countries. Don’t try to feed me that bullshit that the prices are because we cut off Russian oil. Oil coming from Russia accounts for just over one percent of the oil this country uses. If cutting them off would raise prices it would be tantamount to two cents for every 3000 gallons pumped. Not fucking $.60 a gallon. There’s this thing called the Internet and surprisingly a lot of the answers can be found there.

If you want to know why prices are rising try this on for size, Bucko. In fiscal year 2021, Shell, Chevron and Exxon collectively made a profit of $45 billion dollars. That total does not include their cost of operation. That’s the money they had left over AFTER everyone got paid. $45 billion. It’s typical of these jackals to raise the price during war time. There’s nothing as American as profiting off the pain, suffering and death of others.

I pumped my gas but only could afford to put in $30. It gave me just over half a tank. I wandered into the store that I won’t name (but it does rhyme with Go To SHELL). I asked the kid manning the cash register if they had gotten another gasoline shipment since Monday. He responded they did not. I asked him how you could charge people one price on Monday and a much higher price on Thursday considering it was the exact same gas. They had not paid for more. "You’re charging me more for what’s already been delivered. That shit is already here" Diego shrugged his shoulders and gave me the most honest answer I could’ve hoped for. “I don’t know. I don’t ask questions. I’m just here for a paycheck. ”.

I will tell you the answer, Diego. The men in the expensive suits in the big fancy offices in the big skyscrapers are scumbags. Plain and simple. There’s absolutely no reason gas should cost more than it did three weeks ago. Good old-fashioned Corporate American greed. Unfortunately some things will never change.

Maybe it's finally time for Erica and I to buy mopeds.
