We were watching something on the telly yesterday when I made a reference to the late comedian Richard Jeni. I was a big fan of his work and Erica was not sure if she remembered him. I bounced over to YouTube and began playing a video of his first appearance on the Tonight Show. I paused the video to tell Erica how impressive it was. He was poised, confident and polished in his delivery. Pretty amazing for a first appearance on TV. When I looked back at the television I realized I had paused the clip 5:16 into it. The total length of the video was 6:15. Therefore the time indicator on the screen said 5:16/6:15. Palindrome love! I hooted and hollered and told Erica what an incredible event that was. To randomly stop the video and it be palindromic.

This morning Erica was getting ready to go to work. She was in the bathroom putting on her face when I turned from the news to YouTube. I was bored and needed something to to watch during the commercials. I scrolled over to my favorite YouTuber Lao Ocean. He does walking tours around Seattle so I randomly picked one and hit 'play'. It was a short video and I assumed I could get through it and then get back to the news. As the video rolled on Erica called me from the bathroom. I hit 'pause' so I could tend to her needs. I completely freaked out when I saw the video had stopped at 1:06. The video was 6:01 in length. Holy shit dogs! 1:06/6:01! The second instance of palindromic love in under 24 hours!!!!! I jumped off the couch excitedly and ran to the bathroom to spread this joyous news to Erica. She reacted with her usual tone of disinterest. “Yeah, that’s so amazing….Can you swing by the store and grab some milk on your way home?“ Apparently she did not fully understand the incredible, astounding, cosmic unlikeliness of stopping 2 videos at exactly their palindrome moment. That would've been an amazing feat if it had been done twice in a month. Twice in year. Twice in a decade even. But twice in under 24 hours????? “Thrilling. Maybe you should go buy a lottery ticket” she said “and don’t forget to grab the milk.“
