dropping beets
Jun. 18th, 2023 04:09 pmWent to visit MeMum along with Da Younga Sista this morning. When she was having her heart issue a couple weeks ago she was diagnosed as being severely dehydrated. Not surprised as I drink more in a hour than she does in a month. It's amazing how little she consumed. The doc's filled her full of saline and got her body properly hydrated. I did not know the effect that dehydration has on one's brain. Sista told me she is using fully constructed sentences as opposed to the single word replies and various nonsensical grunts. I got to see that for myself today. I found her zipping down the hall in her wheelchair. I bolted in front of her & gave her a big grin. She ignored me and kept rolling. I sat ahead of her in a random chair in the hall. We locked eyes as she approached. I smiled and said "Hi, Mom!" She responded by running over my foot with her wheelchair. Younga made it down the hall and showed her the big bag of food goodies. "I wanna have something to eat" she said. Holy shit.
We made our way to the big room where we began filling Lucy up. Sista brought along some chicken soup which Mom devoured. Sista noticed her hand was blackened by the wheelchair's rubber wheel. She whipped out and a wet wipe to clean Mom's hand. "Oooh. that gives me the shivers". She dropped a couple more sentences during the day. It's effing amazing. She sounds 100% different than before her heart shit. This just confuses me more. Goddamn Alzheimer's.
