For the last decade or so I have put everybody else’s needs in front of mine. I’ve bent over backwards and sacrificed to make sure everybody else is taken care of. Do something for myself? Perish the thought. My great luxury is buying a four pack of beer and some cheap Dutch Master cigars every couple of weeks. I decided it was high time to give myself a little something.

I bought myself a laptop! My poor old tower was in desperate need of Viagra. It took forever for it to get up and when it did it was only a matter of time before it went back down again. I’ve been putting it off and putting it off but it’s time to say goodbye. I’ve had my tower probably 13 years and we’ve had a great time together. But like every shitty relationship it’s time to move on.

I went online, did a little price comparison and settled on a Dell Inspiron that was $749. I rooted around the Internet for a while and found a $150 off coupon. Expedited shipping would’ve brought it to me on Friday and cost me over $50. I didn’t need it immediately because I can’t get a data transfer done for another week or two when I have some spare money. I opted for the regular (free) delivery which would have it dropped on me Saturday. I got home today to an email telling me it had been delivered to our locking mailboxes downstairs! I didn’t pay a penny for shipping and got it a day before the $50 expedited shipping would’ve gotten it here. Haha suck it, Dell. Instead of the $749 list plus the $50 expedited shipping I’m walking out of here only spending $428 and getting it ridiculously early.

This is as electronically up-to-date as I have been in years. Now that I have a new laptop maybe eventually I’ll actually get a phone.

Nah. Screw that.
