at a championship level
Apr. 13th, 2023 07:27 pmI did not hear back from the slumlords regarding my counter to their renewal rate. To give a 30-day notice properly, it has to be submitted by Saturday. It is bullshit how they don't send the offer until this late. BUT I did get 2 nice pieces of ammo for my argument.
1-we had toured a nice complex a few weeks ago. You may remember me freaking out because they raised their rate for as 1-bedroom from $1299 to $1371 2 days after we toured. I checked their site and that apartment, similar in size to ours, is now $1291/month. They are less than a decade old, have better amenities and are a 5-minute walk from downtown Raleigh. Honestly, if things did not work here it is where I planned on moving. I am hopeful we can work something out here but if not......
2-our local newspaper ran an article today on the lowering of Raleigh rent. 3 months ago the NPR station said the median was $1800 for a 1 bedroom (taking all the luxury apartments being built into consideration). The paper says---

I am certain this is for currently available places, not those in the middle of construct. Don't know, don't care. I just know it helps my "we should be paying $1275" argument and that's all what matters to me.
