I was pretty stoked a couple months ago when Andrew finally got the intercom system working at Da Park. The first day it was up he had some awful smooth jazz playing. A day or two later I was excited for the big band station he had on. Eventually he settled on a revolting soft rock station. Ever since then I’ve had to suffer through ‘Vienna’ by Billy Joel, ‘Lola’ by The Kinks and ‘The Pina Colada Song’. The loop is only a couple of hours in length so I get to hear these gems two or three times a day...every day.

I had a train shift today with Peter Pumpkin Eater. I was explaining to him the joy of the little coincidences that happen in every day life but people don’t seem to notice. You have to be receptive to the thought that these little joys are around us all the time. You just have to keep your eyes open and pay attention.

An hour or so later we returned to the station after a train ride. Peter was walking towards me as I was standing at the front gate ready to let in the new passengers. There were about 40 kids/parents in line from a Latino daycare taking a day trip. As Peter ambled towards me I pointed up to the speaker and smiled. He recognized the song and let out a laugh.
