one tangled mess

WHY I AM A DUMBASS, part one-Da Younga Sista and I went to the urologist the other day to have my catheter removed (which ultimately went back in later in the day). When we left the office we went to Chick-fil-A for our customary milkshakes. It never dawned on me that milkshakes are not a good idea now that I am diabetic. I sucked mine down and when I checked my blood sugar later in the day it was 333 (for me, 80 to 180 is considered a normal reading) It took quite a while for it to come back down. It looks like my days of milkshakes are behind me.

WHY I AM A DUMBASS, part two-on Friday Da Younga Sista and I went to meet my new primary doctor. It was a good visit. He seems like a nice guy. When we left she told me to wait in the lobby while she fetched the car. There were a couple of armchairs in the lobby so I limped over to one and sat on the arm. My weight had not been distributed well and the goddamn chair fell over. I fell straight to the floor with the armrest landing right in the middle of my back. (Note-my recovery has been hindered a little by the incredible pain in my lower back so I’m sure this didn’t help). A doctor in an office on the first floor saw me and ran out as did a guy waiting for the elevator. They pulled the chair back up and then twisted me around so I was sitting properly. There was an elderly black woman sitting on the other side of the lobby with her even more elderly mother. Sista came back in and I was telling her about my tumble when the woman said “Oh hush. You fine“ and then laughed her ass off. She knew a dumbass when she saw one.

I just looked them up - 82 grams of carbs! Woof. Milk is only 11 grams of carbs a glass, and there are ways to get diabetic friendly ones. So no need to think you'll never have another one, but yeah, maybe not that one.
