Met Da Younga at The Unhappiest Place in America this morn for a MeMum visit. Mom was in bed, all curled up in the fetal position when we arrived. The loud Jamaican day nurse said she was up until 3 in the morning last night. "She's always the last to got to bed!". Mom has been there for 2.5 years and it was today we learned the patients all sleep in hospital gowns. We jostled Mom awake and got the nurse so she could get some clothes on her. As a fun loving, red-blooded, All-American boy I am a fan of the female form. But nothing, and i mean absolutely nothing, prepares you for looking over at the wrong moment and seeing your frail, wrinkled and wispy 82-year old mom completely nude. That's an image that I think is going to be permanent regardless of how hard I try to forget.
We wheeled her into the big room and filled her full of chicken noodle soup, powdered donuts, PBJ and fig newtons. She spoke a couple sentences which was nice considering we got nothing last week. I made my usual goofy faces and she stuck her tongue out at me. I am grateful because these days that is the same to me as her smile before Alzheimers. I will take whatever recognition I can get.

Mariners/Tigers
(playing in Seattle) just started on MLBTV. That should keep my pea brain occupied for awhile.
