making up for lost thyme

[profile] tinytadpole likes to go to sleep to music. She usually streams a jazz station. Jazz 24, KMHD, WBGO, KSDS. A lot of great choices these days. I was fast asleep yesterday when Maxwell J decided to jump on my stomach at 5 am this morn. I shooed her away and attempted to retrieve my slumber. THe stream Erica had on was playing 'Take Five'. Hell yeah.

Went to work. Goofed off, etc. Finally made it to bed and Erica slapped on her music. The track playing when she logged on was "A Love Supreme" by John Coltrane. Wow.

I know these 2 pieces are the "Stairway to Heaven's of the jazz world. Each of these tracks is being played, somewhere on the planet, every single second of the day, every day. But it was still pretty cool to bookend my day with songs I love.

I wish Seattle's "Jazz station" would play those two more often instead of too much Nora Jones and ten different versions of Fever. I hate that song. I think there's even a version that Nora Jones does.
