I have a supra pubic catheter. The doctors cut a hole in my stomach and slid the catheter tube all the way down into my bladder. When I had the nerve damage (which caused my paraplegia) I also lost control of my ability pee controllably. The catheter takes care of that. The day I had it surgically implanted I had the stopcock turned in the wrong direction. Instead of draining blood into the urine bag I bled out onto my stomach which made its way to my bed. My mattress has a huge bloody stain that makes it look like a piece of evidence in a TV drama.

I spend a significant amount of time on the bed and over the past few weeks I have been digging a divot on my side. I noticed it me in a couple years ago after I had slept on that side for six months or so. Kind of where my hips are and core rest. There are nights when i fall into it, it limits my movement and I have a shitty nights rest. I finally grown tired enough so I gave Little Cabbage a credit card and sent her and Da Younga Sista out Saturday night to fix the problem. They went to the mattress place, tested a bunch out and finally settled on a new one. It’s a Purple brand memory foam mattress that will be delivered here on Friday. To say I’m stoked is an understatement. The receipt shows the delivery time as 9 AM to 9 PM. how effing stupid.

I have been dicking around with the financial assistance people over at WakeMed since January. They told me my application didn’t go through a couple weeks ago because I was missing two pieces of information. A handwritten piece of paper that says I no longer work for a living and proof of address. I can’t really see what either has to do with my ability to pay back A $385,000 bill but whatevs. I dropped that shit off and 2 weeks later the receptionist couldn’t find where it been applied to my account. He said insert the info and call to confirm. Of course, he did not. I went to the billing information section of WakeMeds app and it looks as if they have forgiven almost all of my debt. I’m down to one bill of just under $4000. That means WakeMed has forgiven $380,000 and Rex Hospital $265,000. My Hospitals Days come out to somewhere in the valley of $645,000. That is a fuck ton of pills, scans and doctors. I’m happy they forgave me but truth be known I probably wasn’t going to pay them anyway.
