We all get them once in a while but for me yesterday was definitely one them days. Erica doesn’t work on Fridays so that’s when I schedule our groceria trip. It’s usually the only time I get away from the apartment building. I’ve started doing other small trips as I become more comfortable getting out in the wheelchair. Nothing major yet. Will do the usual grocery store Friday and then a second grocery store over the weekend and therapy Monday afternoon. I have a ride scheduled to go to a mall 30 minutes to the other side of Raleigh tomorrow.

Anyway. We did our usual shopping yesterday. I scheduled Da Cripple Bus to pick us up here at 11 and then at the grocery store at 1:30. We finished the actual shopping at 12:50. Went through the checkout and then went outside. It was hot but we were in the shade so it wasn’t too bad. We only had a 20 minute wait so no big deal. That 20 minutes came & went. Then a couple more groups of 20 came & went. Our 1:30 pick up finally showed up at 2:30. We had just enough time to get home and put the refrigerated items where they belong, then get back downstairs to catch our next ride. I was heading to the El Recordo Sto' for my first hang out since pre-hospital...and of course our fucking ride was late. When we finally got there Eddie The Painting Guy, Tony Beer and Lil' Andrew were there. Erica and I had a great time laughing and cutting up with those guys. We all had a couple beers and did some Jell-O shots. It was the first time in a really, really long time I felt like The Chip again. I looked at the clock and it was 6 PM, time for Da Cripple Busto pick us up. I’m pretty sure you know what I’m going to say next.

The fucking bus didn’t show up until 7:15. This time it wasn’t as tragic as we just stayed in the store, drank and laughed. The store itself was a disasterpiece. It’s nowhere near as organized as when I ran it. A lot of me is still evident in it though. It’s almost like the only steps forward they’ve made since I was in store is the collection of clutter and dust. I have often considered asking Da Judge if I can come back and work a day or two a week. Unfortunately I would not be able to get around the counter in the wheelchair. Before Covid-FU hit, Da Judge and I had discussed converting the second inoperable bathroom into a very (very) small office. Our plan was using that space to run the social media and record label. Nowadays the back of the store looks even worse than the retail part. Literally boxes upon boxes upon boxes of shitty CDs the store bought used but can’t sell. We are a store that specializes in hard rock, offbeat, under the radar music so who the fuck is buying all these Mandy Moore cd'sd?????

It’s Saturday afternoon at 1:30. I’m watching the replay of last nights Mariners game. I’ve been thinking about Seattle a lot lately. How much I love the PNW/how much I hate Raleigh. I’m sure in the next few days you’ll see a long rambling post about it.

Sorry for the loquaciousness (hooray word-of-the-day calendar!). Happy weekend, everybody!
