Apr. 3rd, 2024 10:28 amA nice way to start the day….. One of our cable channels is running a Sanford & Son marathon until 1 PM. I’ve been watching for the last couple hours (except occasionally taking a moment to drop in to see what Dr. Pimple Popper is pimple popping).
We got our lease proposal yesterday. Two years ago they tried to jack the rent $450. I negotiated it down tremendously. Last year they tried to jack the rent $300 but I negotiated it down tremendously. I had my negotiation sweater vest on when I opened up in the email last night. They are indeed trying to jack our rent again but this year a mere $25. We live in an eight story building and I’m not exactly crazy about a lot of the people that are here. A lot of these scumbags leave their litter in the parking lot which infuriates me. A lot of them leave garbage in the lobby which equally infuriates me but dammit, I love our apartment. I love the design and the spaciousness. The slumlords didn’t do much to make it wheelchair accessible. I still can’t get into the bathroom but the only other apartment I would consider moving to doesn’t have a one bedroom ADA. They have a two bedroom wheelchair accessible but it’s $500 more than we’re paying here. No bathroom access sucks but it’s motivation to become mobile again. Once I become para-semi walking I can brush my teeth, shave and shower like a normal para-human.
I am of the opinion that we stay here another year. I will absorb the $25 increase. In actuality I will absorb it plus take more of Erica’s rent away from her. She is struggling at her job and wants to drop down to three days a week. I can take a portion of her rent away so she can do that if she likes. I will bring all of this up to her this afternoon to get her two cents worth.
