details of detours
Mar. 27th, 2023 04:26 pmCuban Andy was out today so my morning carousel shift was with Peter Pumpkin Eater. I was cool with that as Andy is my least favorite person to work with. He is old, crotchety and annoying at times. Everything has to be his way. He is 'by-the-book' but overly so. Takes things waaaaaay too seriously. He has a reputation for stopping the carousel for the slightest infraction. My first day of work (not in training but on my own) he stopped it 3 times. Each time because someone had left a backpack on the floor of the ride. Yikes.
As we were winding down our day awaiting our relief a woman walked up with a small gaggle of kids. As she reached me I crinkled my nose as something quite foul had arrived. I whispered "Ugh. I think someone farted.' She used her thumb to point at a boy wearing overalls. "I'll bet it was him. We call him Exxon." I gave her the look a dog gives when you show him a magic trick. "Wha?"
"We call him Exxon because he's one of America's biggest gas suppliers".
