Thanksgiving at Da Younga Sista’s was nice. I picked Erica up from work around 2 and we hit Sista’s at 3-ish. J-Nic was already there. Da Sista was busy trying to get everything ready at the same time and stressing a little bit. It’s funny watching her and J-Nic coexist in the same space. J knows all the buttons to push. She is super sarcastic and drops little snotty comments all the time with a smirk on her face and her mom always takes them seriously. Lol. J-Nic split around 6:30 for a 2 hour drive to her new boyfriends place. Erica and I hung out until about 9. I think as we grow older we are beginning to realize that we are all each other have. It’s nice that any lingering resentment from the past has finally been put on the shelf. Now if only Da 2 Headstrong Sista’s could work out their stupid shit…..

Erica had yesterday off but didn’t feel like running any chores. I rolled over to the post office and then to the groceria. I went to get gas (something I am super tired of doing) and on a lark took a stroll through a different groceria. When I left I changed from NPR to one of the local stations and they were playing White Christmas by Bing Crosby. I don’t love that song but I don’t despise it either. It’s perfectly serviceable as background for a car drive. When it ended I flipped around to a couple of other stations and then I heard IT. Those horrible cheesy keyboards that begin the song. My stomach began to wretch and I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Yes, it was the god-awful Paul McCartney Christmas song. I know some of you like it and I don’t mean to offend or criticize your tastes but personally I think that is the worst Christmas song, if not the singular worst song of any genre ever recorded. It’s overly simplistic and lazy ("The party's on. The feeling's here. That only comes This time of year". I have written more complex drunken apologies). Paul McCartney was always resentful that critics held John Lennon as the better songwriter. One listen to this song and I understand why. I am hopeful throughout the course of the next month this is the only time I have to suffer through this. What a horrible way to begin what should be the happiest time of the year.

What Christmas songs do you love? Dislike? I’m a big fan of Last Christmas by Wham!. The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. Christmas Wrappings by The Waitresses. I can’t stand Father Christmas by The Kinks. I’m sure there are others I like/dislike but have slipped my memory at this moment.
