mine is the mountain
Oct. 1st, 2022 01:53 pmHurricane Ian hit early yesterday & we remained unscathed through a lot of it. We were starting to think we would get past it with no issues but then our power went out at 3:50 PM. Of course it goes out while I am on the computer, trying to update a spreadsheet with eight tabs open. We hung out in the bedroom listening to the radio. About 8 PM decided to bag the day & just go to sleep. Erica‘s work called this morning at 8:15 asking where she was. The clocks we’re flashing 12:36 so apparently the power had been restored just a few minutes earlier.
Damn you, Ian!
One of the issues that I worry about with bad weather is there is no place around our apartment building where there are not trees. Yesterday after getting petrol & beer I parked about five spaces from a small-ish tree, figuring if it fell only the top branches hit the car. When we got out to leave this morn, sure as I'm sitting here, that tree split and part of it fell. Thankfully it fell forward into the parking lot and not to the left to the parking spaces.

tinytadpole's work we saw the streets were covered in debris but nothing too bad. When I got home I got an email from Da Park saying my shift been canceled today. Most likely it was due to overstaffing on a day after a hurricane but of course there is the stupid HR investigation. (What good is a surprise day off if you can’t waste it worrying incessantly about something?) I celebrated the day by parking myself in bed and watching The Simpsons. The episode that just started was one of those dreadful Treehouse of Horror’s so I switched over to the Navy/Air Force feetball game. Hopefully Erica should be calling soon for me to go pick her up.
