I had a nice text conversation with my niece J-Nic earlier today. We decided to go visit MeMum at The Unhappiest Place in America this coming Sunday. It will be the first time she and I have gone together. We’ve gone with her mom in tow but because of Covid-FU each resident can only receive two visitors at a time.

J-Nic has been on her own now for about six months. She is really falling into living outside of the shadow of her mother. Da Younga Sista, who was scared to death of being on her own, is doing quite well. Her apartment is dope and she has learned she doesn’t need someone there all the time. I’m sure she gets lonely once in a while having had someone there her entire life but I think she’s learned how to cope with it. I’m glad they finally split up. J-Nic needed her freedom and Younga needed to learn she face the world by herself. I’m happy for both of them.

I’m off today and tomorrow. Yesterday was my first 'official' day of training on the train. (That’s awkward to say). I had done 3/4 of a shift already but for some reason no one made note of it. It was pretty cool. It’s a completely different type of interaction with people then hanging out at the carousel. With that in mind the only goofy name I heard was a young boy named Trawick. For yesterdays shift I worked the back end of the train. It’s basically a matter of just keeping an eye on people. Supposedly Thursday I will begin the process of learning how to drive the train. For controls it has just a throttle and brake. I’ve been told by a few people the “learning process“ is just getting a feel of those two components. Who knows? Either way I’m getting paid 50% more than El Recordo Sto' to drive a train or flirt with soccer moms at the carousel. Life is good.
