We had a pretty good day yesterday. Erica‘s dad (Da Goat) swung by around 10 am and picked us up. We bounced around to a couple of local thrift shops. He is really into that and to a certain extent so is Erica. It’s not really my thing but it was fun to be out and about. I don't mind thrifting but it's not ever on my list of things to do. Once every couple months is enough for me. We scored some good stuff. I picked up a cool King Tut candleholder (Erica is into that ancient Egypt shit), an old-as-hell garlic press from Italy, a fish votive candle holder, an old candle and an Andy Williams CD. We also scored a cool little mirror to put in the hallway.

At a different thrift store in Da Goat found this T-shirt. Erica and her sister (Drama Queen) don’t have the strongest relationship which makes this shirt even funnier. I’m sure when Drama Queen sees this she is not going to see the humor in it that we do.

Not five minutes after Da Goat dropped us off I got a text from Eddie The Painting Guy. He was at el recordo’ sto’ and asked if we wanted to join him for a beer. Surprisingly Erica agreed to go. We hung out for about 90 minutes and as we were preparing to leave Eddie asked if we wanted to go with him to the Mexican restaurant across the parking lot. We kind of balked a little but he was insistent and said he would also pay for dinner. We couldn’t pass that up. We ended up staying there for over two hours.

Between the thrift stores, record store and restaurant this is the most social she and I have been since late 2019. Our masks never left our face with the exception of drinking or eating. It felt really alien to be out and about but I am looking forward to having a normal life again in the next couple months. I am waiting to see how quickly BA.2 (the next variant) spreads and the effects it has on people. If it’s less harmful than Omicron I am certain we can resume our lives again. It'll be nice to go to a Durham Bulls game or street fair again. It seems like decades have passed since we did those things.
