Finally got our lease renewal proposal. I did not see it until after the leasing office closed. I sent a rebuttal. Not as in depth as last years masterpiece but told them I had a full list of reasons as to why we should debate the new rate. I did not want to take the time to type it all out if ultimately they had a rate in mind regardless of my brilliant reasoning. (sidebar-it states in our lease we need to give a 30-day notice if we decide to move....but you can drop your renewal on us 4 days before that 30-day notice deadline? That's obnoxious. They pulled the same bullshit last year. If it takes a couple days to negotiate how in the piss I am able to find a new place to live AND give a 30 day notice in the ONE DAY I have left????)
Our original move in rate was $990. That included a $20 bump for the kitties. We renewed in April 2021 for $1034. Not too bad. Then the building was sold. With our next renewal (August 2022) the new slumlords wanted to raise it to $1375 plus $40 in monthly attachments (cat, amenties, trash, pest services). I talked then down to $1225 plus monthly. The new proposal was again $1375. I had them rewove the cat fee as both of the kids have left us. I did not mention Maxwell J. because fuck'em. Thought I could save a buck but then found out the 'amenities' fee went up $20. Damn. My offer was a base of $1275 plus monthlies. I do not want to pay more than $100 more a month. That leaves us room as a $100 bump would put us at $1325/plus. With luck they well counter with $1300 and I can walk out a winner. Right now, according to the website, the rental for this apartment starts at over $1400. That's not ridiculous it's
