I had written this little nugget down in my notebook last week and then forgotten about it. I just stumbled across the note and thought I would share. I was working the carousel last Friday night with Peter Pumpkin Eater. It was about 9:15 and we were both looking forward to the last ride at 9:30. There was only a handful of people on the carousel for this particular ride. I pressed the start button and the carousel noisily creaked into action. It moves pretty slowly for the first lap as it begins picking up speed. A woman and her daughter were on the outer ring of the ride, closest to me. The mom was on the giraffe and the daughter on a cat. As the mom slowly passed she turned backwards towards her daughter and said “Catch me if you can, little kitty.” As the daughter and her cat lazily went by I heard her reply “We’re going the same speed, stupid.”

There truly is nothing in this world as strong as the mother/daughter bond.
